We have started in the first and second grade with finger knitting, braiding, and making our own knitting needles. The first graders are off to a fantastic start!
In second grade, we have moved from finger knitting to braiding, and fishtail braiding. We are completing some beautiful friendship bracelets! We will continue our work from last year with brand new knitting needles made from bamboo, next week.
This last weekend I organized a children's craft and nature center at a community building fundraiser for Idaho Basecamp, a non-profit organization in support of sustainability. We had a fabulous turn out with families coming from many directions. The children really enjoyed felting wool over river stones and they are beautiful!!
We also had some enthusiastic face painters and many participants. :) We really had a beautiful weekend complete with spectacular colors of cottonwoods, wild rose and understory leaves. Golden light flooded our surroundings as we explored along the banks of the Big Lost River. What a way to bring the season!
